Snow and more Snow the further north you go! Racing in the Cheviots this weekend was a very cold affair, with temperatures reaching below -7°C in places. The OSU Team managed to get out and have a snowball fight in between setting up our social media channels for the Pre Launch, Launch!

Phoenix Christmas Advent Run

19 Runners put some serious miles in with Malachi Sullivan racking up 36.1 miles in 6 hours 11 minutes. See full breakdown of results here.

Saturday 2nd December
Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra
Great Video from the Northern Fell Running showing how brutal the race was this year!

It’s hard to put in to words just how extreme some races can be due to the weather conditions on the day, but this fantastic video from Northern Fell Runners makes you almost feels like you’re in the race. I’ll be honest after watching the race footage I am very tempted to sign up for next year (Pending Approval from significant other). If you haven’t watch this on YouTube yet, you’re in for a treat!

Onto the Race Results and some fantastics performances considering the -7°C temperatures in the morning and potenital pushing -10°C on the tops in areas. 143 started the race, with 105 making into the the bitter cold end. Simon Roberts from Wales ultimately took 1st overall and 1st male in a time of 13 hours 4 minutes, with Nicky Spinks taking 1st Female in a time of 15 hours 11 minutes Nicky commented “The weather was very cold and there was snow at all levels. The forecast said sunny and clear!” and “Snow on semi frozen ground was hard going and sometimes body engulfing!!”. Well done Nicky!

UK Ultra – Winter 55 Mile

Brisk start to the 55 Miler with ski poles optional. Toby Meanwell took 1st overall and 1st male in a time of 8 hours 8 minutes, with Helen Moss taking 1st female in a time of 10 hours 32 minutes. Great running all on a cold day at the races. The UK Ultra Team Commented “The setting was beautiful and pretty much what we had hoped for albeit a little cold and foggy! However, this is a “WINTER ULTRA!”. Great Success by all accounts, well done everyone made the day a success!

Sunday 3rd December
Phoenix Bobble Wobble Run

18 Runners getting warmed up with a plenty of miles, with Rob Treadwell warming up with 29.5 miles in 5 hours 13 minutes. See full breakdown of results here.

Bauble Bimble

Zig Zag Running hosted another great event this weekend and sent a lovely thanks message to all its runners “We hope you all had a fantastic time. It was so nice to meet so many of you for the first time and it was also so nice to see so many familiar faces – we welcome all of you to the Zig Zag Family!” Great Stuff guys, see link to race report and race results are at the bottom of their report – Race Report and Results here.

St Edmunds 50k

A soggy start to the race, which didn’t deter the smiling faces this weekend. Ciaran McAneny took 1st overall and 1st male in a time of 4 hours 11 minutes closely followed by Nathan Roulson with a time of 4 hours 13 minutes. Ellie Stradling was 1st female with a time of 4 hours 33 minutes. See full breakdown of results here.
