Classic footraces between the Capital and Brighton have taken place since 1837. There is a rich history of many events and challenges, mainly as a road race, right up to 2005 when it was determined that a road race was no longer a viable option due to traffic concerns.
Fast-forward to 2024 and Cockbain Events and Beyond Marathon have decided to revive the pairing of the cities, as a trail race. In a twist to the original, we will operate it in the reverse direction. This affords those participants not based on the South Coast with the opportunity to end in London and take advantage of the transport network to return home.
We have optimised the start time of the race to enable more than 90% of the participants to finish before 9pm and be able to leverage rail links to get home to most of the country and not necessarily have to stay in London, unless you are making a weekend of it with the family.
The route has an overall cut-off time of 18.5 hours. Optional, graded medals for Finisher, sub-14 and sub-12 hours.
